What Is The Nature Of The ICAN Professional Examination?

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria is a professional accountancy body in Nigeria. It is also one of the two professional accountancy associations with the regulatory authority in Nigeria, the other being the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.

ICAN Nigeria offers two types of exams. The first type is that of professional exams and the second type is that of the Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS).

The ICAN Professional Examination is aimed at holders of a degree or national diploma in any discipline from accredited schools, holders of the ICAN AAT diploma, or any other qualification for the time being approved by the Council.

Applicant must attach the following documents to the application before submission:

Photocopy of an exemption certificate (if applicable).
Photocopies of past results. (Pre �May 1998 results only)
One recent passport photograph
Duplicate copy of the receipt of payment/teller.

How many papers are there in ICAN?

There are about 16 subjects with numerical and written content, broken down into three stages; Foundation Level, Skills Level, and Professional Level.

How do I get the ICAN pin?

You can also generate the pin using your BANK DEPOSIT (receipt) number, following the instructions on the slip as if you were registering for the exams for the first time. How can I become a member of ICAN?

To become a member of ICAN, you must be a qualified accountant with relevant work experience. You must have three years of experience if you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting. 4 years of experience are required if you have a diploma in another discipline or are a member of the AAT.
